Where Night is Not Black

I’ve got hate flowing through my mind. Down from the eyes that gaze at the wedding. Down into the depths of my heart. Beating through my chest, my heart feels anger like an iron in the furnace. My eyes now close and look into the depth of the earth. Fire flowing up from the ground up mountains and flying into the air. Lava rolling down mountain paths of old crushing the old and new alike. Igniting the forests and knocking over the tallest cedars. My mind wanders through a scorched land.

Looking back now at the white dress and the tall man standing by smiling, my eyes turn to water. Flowing no longer in anger but in dismay. She is married now. The man has taken her. Running to his horse with her. And Liam has lost Isolde. Her face he cannot see. She runs, her hand in her lovers. But still Liam holds his hands in anger. Silent screams fly into the night sky like a dying animal. Thrashing like dolphin being torn by a pack of sharks. Water flies left and right from the silent witness.

Walking now he takes his place once again at the mountain. The sky is still blue. And the clouds are coming bringing rain. The harvest will come and the people will rejoice. But Liam cannot. Its not that Liam will not or doesn’t want joy and peace. Liam has been beaten into the hole that he lives in now. And like a hermit he cannot change.

Is the system evil? Why could he never take Isolde and run to a horse with her in his hand? But Liam didn’t find the answers to these questions. He merely asked them and fell deeper into depression that crashed in like a mountain’s walls. The creatures look and walk onward without any idea of what thoughts pulse like a heart beat through Liam. Still standing straight waiting for his replacement, Liam has eternity to think…
