Where Night is Not Black

Used to Be

by admin on Feb.15, 2010, under Thoughts on Then

Plunging into flames, long
The ends curl in song
Like a demon’s hair
Lifting up voices of affliction

I’m consumed in erupting light
Flames set me on fire, alight
But now I’m crying, in anger
Pain my friend not my enemy

Flames soon blue dark
No more just a lark
The pain consumes
Like energy in the sun

Love from beauty has turned
Fields of green now burned
The rose I longed for
Lost in the smoke

I’m consumed in erupting light
Flames set me on fire, alight
But now I’m crying, in anger
Pain my friend not my enemy

The field was open, and I came
The rose stood alone, dame
I took the rose in my hand
The thorn pricked me

Poisoned, to the deep
My dreams take me, sleep
And I’m lost in fire’s storm
Trapped in eternal falling

I’m consumed in erupting light
Flames set me on fire, alight
But now I’m crying, in anger
Pain my friend not my enemy

So now love has consumed
Silence, I am ruined
I loved you
and you killed me

Locks of seductive hair
Hides your face, lair
I crept into that space
Touched the lips

I’m consumed in erupting light
Flames set me on fire, alight
But now I’m crying, in anger
Pain my friend not my enemy

Darkness, surrounds you
Covers you like a black hue
And I’m in love with it
But the darkness is not true

Nails painted like a nest
Spider web, touching my chest
I’m caught, poisoned by venom
Trust betrayed, no rest

I’m consumed in erupting light
Flames set me on fire, alight
But now I’m crying, in anger
Pain my friend not my enemy…

Guess I already told you what I think of this one haha.

Lots of imagery though. Definitely helps get the point across. Interesting how many different metaphors you use.
