Children Play

Intricate toy men wait
Waiting for commanders
Orders to receive
They sit forever, fate
Looks like no children will play
Into darkness she passed
Solidarity for the solider
So a man of war must pay
The sword falls not
Disease creeps over the walls
No strength may hold back
The bodies fall, they rot
The strong men would defend
Weak children and mothers,
But the war is raged
And the men cannot mend
No blood to wash away
The city burns away the stench
The skies open and pour cleansing water
No more will children play
